Le Chateau des Ormes

To finish off our first day, we had a luscious dinner at Le 109, the chateau’s restaurant, located in the wine cellar (this same cellar had a bunker built in it during German occupation).

I had a wonderful entree: sprouted quinoa with an avocado purée and slightly tomato-y sauce, served chilled. My main course was superb lamb. Others had foie gras, prawn, duck, and steak. All were excellently prepared, although we had not yet adjusted to the leisurely pace of dinner, which took nearly 3 hours! We were quite punchy by then. Nonetheless, it was well worth it.

As an aside, it was 91ºF here, making chateaus, though lovely, extremely warm to sleep in. We are immensely spoiled in the United States by air conditioning!
