Tourist Day

Today I drove up to Giovanni’s Food Truck in Haleiwa. There’s lots of discussion about which shrimp truck is best, but I heard the most about Giovanni’s, so off I went. It’s not much to look at but it’s got character I guess! Lots of signatures and graffiti.

To add to the character, there were chickens and roosters running around—no pigeons or crows here!

I had wanted to get the butter shrimp but they didn’t have it. So I had the scampi. They leave the shells on, so after peeling those off, there wasn’t must taste unless you dipped them in the masses of garlic. That was tasty. Served with two scoops of white rice and covered with more yummy garlic.

From there I went up to the North Shore, just to see the water, which was beautiful.

To continue the tourist theme, I drove down to Wahiawa to the Dole Plantation. I didn’t want to do any of the attractions—maze or Pineapple Express train ride—I wanted to try the Dole whip. It was pretty good, but I don’t know that I’d go so far out of my way again for it.
